Barby Salimian

CFO / Owner

Luckily, I started my career at a young age, before I fully knew what I wanted to do. It was KJ that taught me to love finance, largely because it allowed me to be part of building fun, architecturally significant projects. I always knew I wanted to do something creative, but I never imagined it would take the path it did.

Since my freshman year at the University of Washington, I’ve worked at KJ. I was fortunate to have a supportive group of mentors—both within KJ and among our consultants—who believed in me and invested their time and resources, helping me grow into my role as CFO.

Over more than thirty years in the construction industry, I’ve relied on my obsessive, no-surprises communication ethic to navigate and overcome the many challenges this demanding field presents. I’m often amazed at how quickly time has passed, but it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey working alongside such talented and intelligent people.

When I’m not helping steer the KJ ship, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends—watching and attending sporting events, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and hanging out with my two pugs.
